Number Equipment

This tool allows you to incrementally number your Specialty Equipment families by clicking on the family or its annotation tag. It can also be used to number Casework families and Multi-Category Tags.

2. Setting Up the Number Equipment tool

The Number Equipment tool requires the Project “Mark” Value setting to be set to match your Equipment Schedule, KitchDesigner supports either Mark (Instance), Mark (Type), or Item Number. The Project “Mark” Value setting is located in Settings > Project.

Click on the Settings button.

 

 

Settings opens up to the Project tab.

Verify the Project “Mark” Value matches the Mark parameter used in your Equipment Schedule and press Close.

3. Using the Number Equipment tool

Open Revit to an equipment plan view that shows the families you want to number.

Before you can begin numbering, first specify your Numbering and Selection Filter Settings.

Here you can add Prefixes and Suffixes to your number using the text boxes.

You can also change your Starting Number.

Selection Filter Settings let you limit the types of family categories that can be clicked. By limited which family categories can be clicked it is easier to click only the families you want to number.

3.1- Numbering Mode

Click Kitchautomation_Start to begin the numbering mode.

Press ESC to exit numbering mode at any time.

The Starting Number will always be changed to the last number used by the Number Equipment tool plus 1, this way you can press ESC and start the Number Equipment tool again to pick up right where you left off.

When you are in the numbering mode, only the family categories specified in the Selection Filter Settings can be clicked, all other families and Revit elements will be ignored.

Clicking any of the specified family categories will change the Project "Mark" Value to the Starting Number. And the next click will increment the value by one. This continues until you press ESC.

3.2- Creating Spare Numbers

The Number Equipment tool can also be used in conjunction with the Fill Spares tool to assist you in creating Spare Numbers families.

To add Spare Numbers, you can click the same piece of equipment multiple times to leave open numbers that are unused. These unused numbers or gaps in your equipment schedule can be filled with Spare Numbers using the Fill Spares tool.

3.3- Adding Suffixes with .1, .2, .3, etcKitchautomation_NumberEquipment_03

The Number Equipment tool also has (2) keystroke modifiers - SHIFT & CTRL

Hold SHIFT to add a .1 suffix to the last number placed. Continue holding SHIFT to increment the suffix to add .2, then .3, then .4 

and so on. Once you let go of SHIFT it reverts to the next number.

Hold CTRL to repeat the same number more than once.
